How to care for leather shoes

Leather casual shoes last longer if they dry slowly, stay conditioned, and are not left wet in a bag. This is general care, not a waterproofing guarantee.

After a day’s wear

Wipe dust with a soft cloth. If they are damp, stuff with paper and leave them away from a radiator. Alternate pairs when you can so the leather recovers.

Cleaning

Use a cleaner made for leather, then a cream in a similar colour. Suede needs a brush, not cream polish. Avoid household detergent.

Conditioning

A thin coat of conditioner every few weeks of regular wear keeps the upper from drying out. Too much product can soften the finish.

Storage

Keep them on trees or stuffed, in a cool cupboard. Long-term plastic bags trap moisture.

When to see a cobbler

Lifted soles, broken stitching, or worn heels are repair jobs. Visible stitching on YoyooBlue pairs can make those repairs easier to discuss. More detail: journal care article.
