A brogue is a leather shoe with decorative perforation. Full brogues (wingtips) have a W-shaped toe cap. Semi-brogues have a straight cap with some punching. Quarter brogues keep the decoration quieter.
The holes were once practical in wet country. Now they are style. A British-style brogue on a derby last is a weekend and smart-casual shoe. Pair with wool or denim; they are busier than a plain oxford.
